Destination HBCU: Detroit to be held on Saturday, April, 27, 2019 at Southfield A&T High School from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Detroit HBCU Network and Closing the Gap Detroit, in partnership with Southfield Public Schools, are proud to present Destination HBCU: Detroit, a Metro Detroit college fair and more!  While the event welcomes students across Southeast Michigan, our primary focus will be students from the city of Detroit and its surrounding suburban communities. Parents and other supportive adults are highly encouraged to attend, also, as they play an integral role in helping shape the college blueprint for their student.

Set up for the college fair will begin at 8:00 a.m.

While the college fair portion is an essential piece to Destination HBCU: Detroitthe entire day is slated to give every visitor in attendance a dose of the HBCU experience…from energetic musical selections to informative breakout sessions such as “Finding the Right HBCU for You,” “Making the Right Call: The Power of HBCU Athletics,” “Securing the Bag: A Guide to Scholarships,” and “University of Financial Aid.”  There will also be a lively panel discussion of diverse HBCU alumni, entitled “Life on the Yard:  A Look Inside HBCU Lifestyle and Culture.”  There is no doubt that the 3 E’s of this event will be achieved: to host an eventful, enjoyable and educational experience for all students interested in attending a Historically Black College or University and to also provide a quality learning experience for our students and parents.
